One thing that works for the mental health of our household in this COVID crisis is to switch off TV completely over news time.It will take the wannabe herds and the polys some time to realize that many of us are doing this for our own mental health.
The wannabes are clamouring, as usual, for our attention . What these fanatics fail to realise is that they know little more than we do ( and therefore should just billboard the CMO)
BUT worse
- they push their speculation(/leading to more lies half truths , fake news ,laws and less guidelines ) all over us day after day. its what fanatics do
The nonsense in the news media goes to prove several things
1. Trump was right about at least one thing - The waste from Fake news in OUR lives
2. The people are predictably more compliant when fear is the driver and fear is not addressed with fact ( the extent of the infection agents in each country)
3. Economy of information.and instruction is critical I know as a risk managemnet planner -- "you don't say too much and only what is necessary" _http://ecomia.blogspot.com
4, Comfort the people with things they should know- and act upon ( Switch the TV off )
a That the wannabes and media are desperate to prove their diminishing power over us ( esp with the net available )
b So many stupid and wayward things have been said in this period that its unbelievable .( Switch the TV off )
c As always in history ITS those who claim to be doing things in the name of best intention that are the most dangerous ,
d Watch Wannabes closely -Especially those leaders who rush into solutions their minds have invented and whose real actionsthe integrated patient professional practice of checking what actions in a crisis are really neccesary ( by the CMO) .
e Teaching people who don't normally listen well ( all of us ??) to listen well can mean the t great leader ( just a man who know s something -- the child in the story?) occasionally YELLING and also calling for silence too -
No one normally on the end of a microphone seems to get that, at the moment.
I wonder if God has intervened in history?

ReplyDeleteJune 21st .2020 .I haven't been able to watch the news for a couple of months because I hear enough wild speculation about " what the numbers mean"when from my training I don;t know what the numbers mean. leave it to them?
ReplyDeleteBUT - are we leaving it to Epidem s OR Polys ? I haven't heard a Chief medical Epidemiologist talk about the limits of all the politically driven testing >
As a result of no information about asymptomatics/ vlow levels i question what the clearly political concerned and worry warrior class will learn from this preoccupation withe testing and the delay and angst it causes by forcing more isolation (Victoria for eg ).
As a student of micro , testing of antibodies does not tell you all you want to know about presence or risk ( eg asymptomatic cases) of the virus/agents.
Many more of us should all know and be clearer about what the best medical evidence is from testing: -- about what it all means for probable/ actual infection levels/agents in various communities.
All those worrying about the danger in ships/close contact communities from carriers may not be justified as the high levels of testing +ves could be expected to show primarily a build up of herd immunity in such situations.
I think it will become clear ( say in regard to the medias dramatic selection of FACTS +reporting of their very own high levels of deaths that the cases where other immunological predispositions are not involved, is very low ;
in other words, their MUST be case for a much higher level of exposure to the virus ( eg via air) and more than is commonly stated-- deaths from multiple respiratory risks/diseases than is being said -and implied --- esp by all those focusing on the effectiveness of washing.
. But then again - what would i know I am from the country .
22nd June and the worry warriors want to close down the State again. . The dummies confuse CASES of antibody detection with real threats. The Vics are testing lots more people in Victoria so naturally they are finding more people with antigens. It may just mean that the virus is much more widespread than those in charge think.
ReplyDeleteHow is it possible for state CMO to be so dumb? you might well ask. Simples, if a govt is in long enough, its chiefs aren't appointed because they know what they are talking about.
25th Andrews may think,with Brett Sutton agreeing with him, that his idea of the value of testing is related to the reducing the spread.The public are rightly getting confused about what all this testing proves, as do some epidemiologists. Sutton affirms the Premiers idea that localities indicate liability ( wher as they could mean exposure )and high risk ( All the social distancing rule changes also suggest to most affected that exposure is not likely to deadly ( correct _ which makes the objective of responding to "hot spots "not nearly as clear as the decision to shame for actions unclear in purpose . As often happens with name calling "hot spots, second wave,sanitize. cases "these risk words get a life of their ownwhen the only thing to do is what comm CMO says ( should be divided o stop it meaning something it doesn;t )
ReplyDeleteIts now the 7th july and Andrews is calling for closure of the borders and locking people in towers. His intentions are good but as wise leaders know they are not enough . As stated above the State of the nation would have been so much better off if THE PM had insisted there be only one chief with only he writing rules and he taking all advice to do that.
